Screen Surfaces

Cinetech supplies a range of screen surfaces from Harkness Hall to suit any application. For large format applications Harkness Hall's Purlux TM range offers a variety of high gain surfaces to provide higher contrast, brightness, and generous viewing angles. It is noted for 'invisible' seams under normal projection conditions.
For 3D applications, the Harkness Spectral 240 is the screen of choice by exhibitors around the world. Spectral 240 surfaces are comprised of a silver aluminum flake based coating applied to the unique base material provides high gain characteristics, strong signal to noise ratios, generous viewing angles and excellent colour temperature.

Matt White / Matt Plus Surfaces

Harkness Matt Plus screens are considered by leading cinema exhibitors worldwide to be the best matt white projection surface. The flexible PVC based material is manufactured to a unique formulation and specification providing wide viewing angles, high contrast, bright pictures and excellent colour temperature. The surface is foldable for ease of transportation, cinema access and installation. Seams are invisible under normal projection conditions.

Available in non-perforated or perforated forms. Matt Plus MP is recommended when close viewing conditions apply. It has smaller diameter perforations (less than half the diameter of other Harkness projection surfaces) to provide the ultimate surface type for close viewing conditions. Matt White Event screens are general purpose non-perforated screens. For perforated screens use Matt Plus. A black reverse side is available for blocking ambient light behind.

Characteristics:
- Seams are invisible under projection
- Perforated and non-perforated options are available
- Generally for use in dark (cinema) conditions
- Applications include: cinema, special events, home cinema, film production

Purlux Gain Screens 140/180/220

Harkness Purlux™ screens are considered by leading cinema exhibitors worldwide to be the premier gain projection surface. Purlux™ is a specially coated white surface providing a choice of gain characteristics, high contrast, bright pictures, generous viewing angles and excellent colour temperature. Seams are invisible under normal projection conditions. Available in non-perforated or perforated forms.

Harkness Purlux is available in 3 gain levels:
Purlux™ 140 a mid-gain option for smaller auditoriums
Purlux™ 180 a high-gain option for larger auditoriums
Purlux™ 220 is an ultra high-gain surface for use with certain 3D systems and for very large 2D systems. (Not suitable for polarised light 3D systems).

Purlux 140/180 surfaces are available in different perforation forms (regular and mini-perf MP) and in 2 thicknesses for use in different applications, including a foldable version for air freight. Purlux 220 cannot be folded.

Characteristics:
- Seams are invisible under projection
- Perforated and non-perforated options are available
- Generally for use in dark (cinema) conditions
- Applications include: cinema, special events, home cinema, film production

Spectral 240/300 Surfaces (3D Applications)

Harkness Spectral 240 & 300 3D screens are considered by cinema exhibitors and special venue operators worldwide to be the optimum 3D projection surface for systems using polarised light.

Silver aluminum flake based coating applied to the unique base material provides high gain characteristics, strong signal to noise ratios, generous viewing angles and excellent colour temperature.

The surface type also supports conventional 2D pictures adding to operational versatility. Seams are invisible under normal projection conditions.

Spectral 300 is a specialist ultra-high brightness silver screen, with an increased gain of 25% against Harkness' existing Spectral™ 240 product. Spectral™ 300 gives excellent performance with "passive" 3D applications using polarised light where achieving suitable brightness levels particularly for 3D presentation in larger auditoria has proved problematic. It also performs well under 2D conditions and can be used for 3D/4D rides, simulators and special effects.

Available in non-perforated or perforated forms. Spectral surfaces cannot be folded and must be rolled for transportation. Spectral 240 MP is recommended where close viewing conditions apply.

Characteristics:
- Seams are invisible under projection
- Excellent performance with 'passive' 3D applications
- Performs well under 2D conditions
- Applications include 3D cinema, large format, 3D/4D rides, simulators, special effects
